Flooring Removal Matai & Rimu
There is a renewed interest in reclaimed flooring. Home owners are discovering beautifully preserved wooden floors beneath underlays of carpet. However, chipboard patches are usually discovered during the reveal, patches that now need to be patched themselves. We have a variety of lengths and profiles (widths) available, perfect for pesky patch up details and enough for a complete refit. Wooden floors add elegance and homeliness to any space. They add a warmth of colour and character where carpet misses.
Flooring Removal Matai and Rimu
The current project was much the same as previous salvages: long running and hard in graft. The source site was determined to have two different profiles of flooring. The smaller width 85 mm was confirmed as Rimu, while the 135 mm width flooring was noted as being Matai. To begin with, all the underlay and carpet were removed from the rooms. Next, a perimeter was cut and the central boards in each room were removed to allow an opening.
The boards were tapped loose and a saw was used to cut the flooring nails. This freed the boards. A stockpile was formed after the boards were measured and marked for identification.
There is little that we cannot modify. We can extend both height and width. We can trim the exact same. We offer a variety of services intent on meeting any specific requirements or visions. A door, as selected from our stock, may seem unsatisfactory when considering its dimensions or how it is hung. It is also possible that a single detail may prove unsatisfactory–perhaps a panel present instead of light letting glass. This can all be accommodated for. Hinges can be swapped. Any rebated sites can be packed. Unwanted panels can be removed and replaced with glass, for which we offer a catalogue of different templates.
We are also in the market of purchasing doors and other recyclables we consider appropriate for restoration. We invite anyone in the possession of such sought after materials and furnishings to contact us. We source from auctions; salvage from demolitions; purchase from home renovation sites and spring-cleaners and remodellers.
