Double Glazing quickly proves its value when considering its long term benefits, particularly when considering the cost of power bills.

Double Glazed French Door Restoration

The current project¬†was both simple and sweet. There was a problem with a small amount of rot. This rot had developed along the bottom rail of the door. The likely cause for the resulting damage was probably the putty–it was disturbed and had warped and so created an opening. This was the likely cause for the resulting damage. It is likely that this opening allowed water to pool, which itself caused rot to develop. But, luckily, the blight was local.

The rot was removed and the bottom rail was investigated for any possible spread of the disease. It was cleared. A new fix of putty was applied after the old was removed. And because it was a new fix it served as a new and proper seal against which potential water damage was protected from. A match of wood was found and used to replace and fill the void created by the disposed of rot. The match was fit and sanded to ensure a clean finish and a heat gun was used to set it in place (as pictured). The result was then primed and made ready for customer preference of paint coat.

There is little that we cannot modify. We can extend both height and width. We can trim the exact same. We offer a variety of services intent on meeting any specific requirements or visions. A door, as selected from our stock, may seem unsatisfactory when considering its dimensions or how it is hung. It is also possible that a single detail may prove unsatisfactory–perhaps a panel present instead of light letting glass. This can all be accommodated for. Hinges can be swapped. Any rebated sites can be packed. Unwanted panels can be removed and replaced with glass, for which we offer a catalogue of different templates.

We are also in the market of purchasing doors and other recyclables we consider appropriate for restoration. We invite anyone in the possession of such sought after materials and furnishings to contact us. We source from auctions; salvage from demolitions; purchase from home renovation sites and spring-cleaners and remodellers.
